The game
Fourteen weapons that each play like a different game, monsters that behave like animals, and a four-player hunt loop that has not fundamentally changed in twenty years because it did not need to. The most spectacular game here.
The rhythm
A hunt is twenty to forty minutes. An evening is a set of armour. The opening hours are a tutorial disguised as a story and are the weakest part.

What you pay for
Full-price purchase with free monster updates. The cosmetic shop is loud and pointless; nothing in it affects a hunt. A paid expansion is expected and will be large.
What it asks of you
Patience through the intro and a real commitment to learning one weapon. PC performance at launch was rough and has improved.
The strengths
- Deepest combat on the list
- Free monster updates
- Excellent four-player hunts
The trade-offs
- Cosmetic shop is loud
- PC performance has been uneven
The hunt, sold once; the outfits, sold twice.
