The game
A Norse purgatory for up to ten friends. Build a hut, a longhouse, a harbour; sail out and fight bosses that unlock the next tier of everything. The building is the best in the genre and the sea is genuinely frightening.
The rhythm
An hour is a supply run; an evening is a base extension or a boss. It is a game about the group you play it with, and it gives that group a lot to do.

What you pay for
One payment, no shop, no strings. A save file that belongs to you and runs on your machine. It is still in early access after years, which is the only asterisk.
What it asks of you
Patience with clunky combat and slow updates, and at least one friend. Solo play works but the game is written for a longhouse full of people.
The strengths
- One payment, nothing else, ever
- Building and sailing are superb
- Runs on modest hardware
The trade-offs
- Combat divides people
- Content arrives in large, slow updates
The cleanest receipt on the list.
